These club faves spent time on the WBCN Top-3 with their only single. They also got time
from all the right people in all the right places. Carter Alan was a fan, as was Jeff Berlin (WAAF), Rich Anzalone (WLYN,
which preceded WFNX), Tom Giovanniello (WMLN), and Harvey Wharfield (then at WAAF). Somerville natives retained local draw
after forming in 1980 when their other acts broke up. Kelly was soundman for Zenophon (which included stalwart drummer David
Stefanelli). The band played Somerville clubs like Jumbos and Jaspers (where they debuted), and Bunratty's, The Channel and
Spit in Boston.
Steve Cox surfaced in 1983 in the Doug Marsden Band, while Maduri (who worked the "grave yard shift" at the Cambridge
Music Complex) kept the time for one of the Laprad outfits. The band was featured in a home town Somerville Journal cover
story (4-30-81) that attempted to explain the single's flip side thusly: Hakkatakkaha or The Litany of The Japanese was a
number based on a laundry list of products from Tokyo-land. Toyota, Yamaha, Nikon, Sony?the repetitive short syllables set
a strong dance beat in Kelly's number. The boys were professionally managed by Frank Azzolino.
